'Canyon Fire 2' Rages Through Orange County Hills

Mandatory evacuations were ordered after fires broke out late Sunday across four counties as strong winds swept through the area.

Officials have set up two reception centers for evacuees, one at Katella High School in Anaheim and the other at El Modena High School in Orange.

Horses can be evacuated to west end of Yorba Regional Park.

The evacuation shelters and firefighters now have everything they need to combat the fire and aid those affected.

The smoke over the park was coming from a fire churning through canyons in hilly neighbourhoods of Orange County, where residents of about 1,000 homes were forced to evacuate and a state of emergency was declared. It burned about a mile of the area which was scorched by the recent Canyon Fire that blackened more than 2,600 acres and took more than a week to contain.

"As I'm sure you're aware, the Canyon Fire is only about 30 miles away from Long Beach and is having a serious impact", Mayor Robert Garcia said in an email dispatch.

The musicians are being told to stay inside and employees who live in areas where evacuation orders have been given are being allowed to go home to get their things.

More than 200 firefighters were battling the fire by Monday afternoon along with six helicopters and six fixed-wing planes. The eastward paths of the 91 Freeway were shut at Imperial Highway.

Some guests even claimed ash has been falling on the world-famous attraction in Anaheim - which is just up the road from the deadly canyon fires which have already destroyed 5,000 acres of land.

CHP officials were working at day's end to open all but the right lane on the eastbound Riverside Freeway, Olivera said.
