Charlie Heaton 'Stranger Things' Star Busted with Coke Denied Entry to US

"Stranger Things" actor Charlie Heaton had to miss the show's US premiere this week after he was allegedly caught with cocaine at Los Angeles International Airport.

Heaton plays Jonathan Byers, the older brother of Will Byers, who disappears from the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana, setting off a search as residents encounter supernatural events.

A statement obtained by PEOPLE from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection says any "foreign national may be inadmissible due to the commission of a crime involving drug possession". "CBP officers treat all global travellers with integrity, respect and professionalism while keeping the highest standards of security".

The 23-year-old British actor was denied entry into the United States and sent back to the United Kingdom the same day, a law enforcement official confirms to PEOPLE.

However, according to privacy laws, the officials could not comment on the specifics of Heaton's case.

It's important to note that Heaton was not arrested after the discovery - apparently, only a very small amount was found, and it likely wasn't worth the trouble.

Heaton was flying in to LAX to attend the premiere party for the second season of Stranger Things from which the actor was noticeably absent.

Season 2 of Stranger Things is now streaming on Netflix, so for those of you waiting, go ahead and get your binging on.
