HEALTHBEAT 4: Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Zerorez finds it important to take part in a good cause and encourage discussion about breast cancer. There is now no known cure for breast cancer, so early diagnosis is critical. The event is free and open to all cancer survivors from the MSU community and their caregivers, family and friends, but seating is limited.

National Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease and to help those affected by breast cancer through early detection, education, and support services.

One in eight women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. Our ambition is that by 2050 everyone who develops breast cancer will live - and live well. However, the most significant risk factors are being a woman and age.

Mr Balfour said: "Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in Scotland - unfortunately most people know of someone affected by this awful disease". In addition, 91 cents of every dollar raised goes directly towards breast cancer research efforts, which is why DWC will be donating 5% of its cable proceeds, and 100% of breast cancer awareness "swag" proceeds to the organization.
