Las Vegas shooter had cache of 19 weapons in hotel room

Though Paddock had a stockpile of weapons, he reportedly wasn't an avid shooter and had no criminal history. "We are going to pay our respects and to see the police who have done really a fantastic job in a very short time", Trump said before leaving the White House.

Paddock filed a negligence lawsuit against The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, claiming he slipped and fell due to a "dangerous condition", according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Investigators have zeroed in on a weapon-buying binge Paddock went on in the year before the attack.

Other reports have said she left the country on September 25.

Danley, an Australian citizen reported to have been born in the Philippines, had been sharing Paddock's condo at a retirement community in Mesquite, Nevada, about 90 miles (145 km) northeast of Las Vegas, according to police and public records.

Investigators are still trying to trace that money and are also looking into a least a dozen financial reports over the past several weeks that said Paddock gambled more than $10,000 per day, the official said.

Investigators also say there is indication Paddock had planned to survive and escape, but didn't elaborate, citing the ongoing investigation.

Mr Eric Paddock, the shooter's brother, said the family was "bewildered" as to what drove him to mass murder, saying in a telephone interview the family would release a brief statement through the sheriff's office in Orlando, Florida, where some of the shooter's relatives live.

A picture outside the room shows bullet holes through the door, possibly those made when Paddock fired at hotel security guards outside the door, hitting one in the leg.

Federal Bureau of Investigation agents met her plane at Los Angeles International Airport and took her away for questioning, two USA officials briefed on the case told Reuters.

Paddock's motive for the deadly massacre remains unclear.

Lombardo said "more than 100 investigators have spent the last 72 hours combing through the life of 64-year-old Stephen Paddock to produce a profile of someone I would call disturbed and unsafe".

The 58 victims killed and almost 500 injured were among 22,000 attending the Harvest 91 country music festival.

Authorities said Paddock fatally shot himself as police moved in.

Lombardo said the attack was the obvious outcome of meticulous planning.

Police shut down busy Las Vegas Boulevard, and federal and state authorities converged on the scene.

The attack was a threat police could not have prepared for, McMahill said.

FBI's Aaron Rouse said that no link to terrorism had been found so far, but they would not discard the possibility.
