Liverpool FC dealt major injury blow

Liverpool have confirmed that Sadio Mane is set for a significant spell on the sidelines after sustaining injury on global duty.

The injury was picked up during that same fixture and could keep him out of action for six weeks.

Sadio Mane faces six weeks out for Liverpool after sustaining a hamstring injury on worldwide duty.

The news is a big blow for the Reds, whose form has suffered in recent weeks, with Klopp's men having won only one of their last seven matches in all competitions.

That brought them only four goals across a 1-1 Premier League draw with Burnley and back-to-back meetings with Leicester, who knocked Liverpool out of the Carabao Cup before the Reds responded with a 3-2 league win.

Mane will not only miss Saturday's crucial showdown with Manchester United but he'll also sit out further league games against Tottenham, Huddersfield, West Ham and Southampton.

The Senegal worldwide scored 13 goals and laid on a further right in just 29 appearances for the Reds in 2015/16, with his absence at the end of the season hampering his side's fluency.

He was suspended for three games earlier this season after being sent off in the 5-0 defeat at Manchester City, while he also missed the end of last term with a knee injury.
