Srikanth, Sindhu in quarters; Saina succumbs

Rio Olympics silver medallist Sindhu outclassed Chinese rising star Chen Yufei in straight games 21-14, 21-14 in a match that lasted for 42 minutes. Nishimoto tried to recover as he hit a few brilliant strokes to downplay the Indian but Srikanth was up for everything the Japenese had in fray for him as he took the game in just 16 minutes. Srikanth had improved four sports in the rankings after the win in Denmark and is only going from strength to strength after he became the first Indian player to become a victor of four super series titles in a year.

Having already completed a hat-trick of Super Series titles, Srikanth won his fourth title of the season. He played his classic smashes and coupled with Nishimoto's inability to handle the pressure, Srikanth raced to a 15-10 lead.

But nerves cost Prannoy the game and Srikanth won the next four points to push the match into the decider.

A little while later Srikanth trumped Prannoy 14-21, 21-19, 21-18 in a thriller which lasted an hour and two minutes.

With back-to-back titles at Denmark and France, Srikanth has sealed his place at the top of Destination Dubai rankings and would be a prime contender for the Super Series Final title in December. With stunning control over the shuttle and brilliantly accurate smashing, Srikanth opened up an 18-12 lead.

The second game was a one-way traffic as Yamaguchi straightaway went 5-0 up and, at the mini-break, was leading 11-2. He beat Lee Chong Wei, he came from qualifiers and he has beaten Andersen.

Kidambi Srikanth vs Kenta Nishimoto's French Open Superseries Final match is the third match of the day and is expected to start around 7pm IST.
