Trump says Democratic donor airing impeachment ads on TV is 'totally unhinged'

"He's brought us to the brink of nuclear war, obstructed justice at the Federal Bureau of Investigation and, in direct violation of the Constitution, has taken money from foreign governments and threatened to shut down news organizations that report the truth", Steyer says in his ad, part of a multimillion-dollar campaign urging Americans to petition members of Congress to impeach Trump.

Democrat donor Tom Steyer's $10 million impeachment campaign is getting under President Donald Trump's skin.

He added that Steyer "has been fighting me and my agenda Returning Greatness to America from the very beginning", adding that the billionaire environmentalist "never wins elections!" Trump wrote in a tweet targeting the California billionaire.

As we saw earlier this week, Steyer's stern ad implores citizens to take a stand against the President, saying that Trump is pushing the country "to the brink of nuclear war", "taken money from foreign governments", and "threatened to shut down news organizations that report the truth".

On his website, NeedToImpeach, Steyer makes a compelling case for impeachment and has a petition you can sign.

In addition to the eight-figure TV ad campaign, Steyer has said he is also conducting a seven-figure social media buy.

The president also wished good luck to Joy Villa, a singer who wore a Trump-themed dress to this year's Grammy Awards and is now considering a congressional bid.

Steyer and his super PAC, back in 2014, reportedly sought to raise $100 million to elect allies in the climate change fight - though they fell short of that goal, Steyer later denied setting it and Republicans went on to gain control of the Senate and pick up seats in the House and local races.
