Fortnite releases 1.8.2 patch as it surpasses 20 million players

Following the news that Fortnite, a game whose Battle Royale game mode has been seen as a direct competitor to PUBG, had 20 million unique players, PUBG Inc. were keen to also share that they'd hit the same milestone.

Taking to Twitter, Brendan "PlayerUnknown" Greene has made it known that over 20 million copies of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds or PUBG have been sold.

"I know a lot of you are frustrated by issues w/ the game but the team is working hard to deliver a truly great Battle Royale experience for everyone". That's an extra five million in less than a month. Bear with us, change is coming! In English, the closest thing to PUBG is probably Guns Royale [Free], but in China a game titled 荒野行动 which translates roughly to "Wilderness Survival" has stolen the top spots from Arena of Valor- A massive feat, considering Arena of Valor is so huge that it has drawn the ire of the Chinese government. Of course, PUBG will soon eliminate that edge, as the game's publishers recently announced the game will hit Xbox One on December 12. The title was launched at the end of September, so the impressive number of players has been reached in only a few weeks. We are aware that we still have much to do. "We will continue to permanently ban those who are using cheats". We will use all available resources to combat cheaters and foster a safe and fair in-game environment.

"We are in the process of adopting new tools to detect and verify users with unusual gameplay patterns and today, we will be rolling out additional measures".
