Sony Xperia XZ and XZs gets updated to Android 8.0 Oreo

Sony Xperia XZ and XZs gets updated to Android 8.0 Oreo

The company had promised the customers at the launch event that it will push regular updates and security patches for all its devices. Sony's commitment to snappy updates has really been shining through lately, and this continues with the Oreo love being shared to two of the company's older handsets. Android Oreo has been announced in August and immediately after the announcement, Sony has released a list with all their compatible smartphones that are going to get the update. So all the Nokia 8 smartphone users will be able to upgrade their devices to the latest Oreo update in a few days. According to Xperia Blog, the Japanese company is now rolling out the Android 8.0 update to Xperia XZ and Xperia XZs. So users are recommended to make sure that their device has enough charge and space. Also, features such as Smart Text Selection, Xperia Action, reminders, redesigned app shortcuts, auto-fill and much more are debuting on XZ/XZs through the update.

Do not forget to back-up important files and data before you update your OS.

As the software updates are usually rolled out in phases, Sony Xperia XZ and XZs owners should check in with their local operators or watch for the notification in their smartphones.

As per the official change-log, the Xperia XZ and XZs will be receiving several new features and improvements as a part of the new software update.

The update so far appears to be (for the most part) steady and quick, yet additional testing is fundamental before any conclusions can be made.

We are expecting Sony to release the same update for Xperia X Performance by the end of this year.
