U.S. attorney general vows quick decision on Clinton prosecutor

In a letter to the House Judiciary Committee, a Justice Department official says Sessions has directed senior federal prosecutors to evaluate concerns raised by Republican lawmakers.

"It's time for Jeff Sessions to name a Special Counsel and get answers for the American people".

Democratic members of the House Judiciary Committee advised Sessions in a letter last week that they meant to press him on what they said were "inconsistencies" between the attorney general's past statements and the new revelations. There is no structural reason to believe the Justice Department is unable to conduct a fair investigation of the Clinton Foundation.

Last month, Republican leaders of two House committees launched an investigation into an Obama-era deal in which a Russian company bought a Canadian firm that owned some 20 percent of USA uranium supplies.

President Donald Trump and Fox News host Jeanine Pirro have a strong relationship.

The Clinton's foundation allegedly took in $145 million in foreign funds and Bill Clinton received abnormally high compensation for a speech in Russian Federation just as then-Secretary of State Clinton oversaw the government agency responsible for approving the sale of 20% of America's uranium to a foreign nation. Other agencies represented on the committee include the departments of Treasury, Defense, Commerce, Energy and Homeland Security and the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative.

U.S. intelligence agencies have concluded that Moscow meddled in the 2016 election to help Republican Trump's campaign.

Some Republicans have also called for investigations into the Uranium One deal, including Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa and Representative Bob Goodlatte of Virginia - both chairmen of congressional committees that oversee the Justice Department.

Prosecutors will be assigned to the matters as requested, according to the letter, and will report to Sessions and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

"These facts appear to contradict your sworn testimony on several occasions", Democrats from the committee said in a letter to Sessions last week.

Why does Mr. Trump care about the Uranium One deal?

And without a specific license to export uranium from Uranium One's mines, which it did not have at the time, Rosatom would not be able to send it to Russian Federation or elsewhere. But he said he had no memory of that conversation.

"Why in 2016 did James Comey and the Justice Department give Cheryl Mills, Secretary Clinton's Chief of Staff, an immunity agreement for turning over her laptop computer?" But most other Cabinet-level members historically have delegated such responsibilities to less senior officials. "But, honestly, they should be looking at the Democrats".

There has been no evidence that donations to the Clinton Foundation influenced the Uranium One deal.

"Are you recused from investigations that involved Secretary Clinton?"

It's an important exchange, especially as Republicans in Congress also want a special counsel to look into Uranium One, where Republicans claimedClinton gave Russian Federation 20 percent of America's uranium when she was secretary of state.
