Last month it was pointed by some users that Google is using an incorrect "Hamburger" emoji in Android.

Everyone knows the cheese normally goes on top of the patty, including Apple, Microsoft, Samsung, Facebook and Twitter, with any real-life adjustment of the classic recipe bound to cause widespread panic, riots and maybe even a full-on food war. Google has now corrected it and it now contains liquid all the way to the top.

Now the consensus is that the slice of cheese should be on top of the patty, and Google has straightened things out in Android 8.1 Oreo, according to Emojipedia. This change applies to the forthcoming Android 8.1 release.

The Monday after that online debate, Google even provided cheeseburgers in their staff cafeteria to help figure out where the cheese really belonged. The website is regarded by many as the Wikipedia of emojis.

Ever send a cheeseburger emoji in WhatsApp? Samsung, for instance, has its own version of hamburger emoji. Later, Google also served "Android burgers" to its employees at its Seattle office.

This cheeseburger conspiracy sparked quite an intense and extensive debate on social media over where the cheese should be placed in the Cheeseburger Emoji, both for Apple and Android's emojis in the recent updates.

This was, supposedly, the very step, which lead the designers and developers to reverse their design decision. The spark happened when Thomas Baekdal, writer and media analyst, tweeted about the positions of the patty and cheese in Android and Apple Cheeseburger emojis.

So egregious was Google's error that CEO Sundar Pichai stepped in, promising to "drop everything" to address the cheeseburger issue.

Twitter, too, has transformed its burger from the one that only featured meat and cheese to a revised one with lettuce and tomato in its 2017 burger revision.
