You Can Earn Money By Collecting PlayStation Trophies

You can go and opt for the program on your PlayStation Network Account settings right now to make sure you're getting points while getting trophies or getting points through other means (purchases etc). With this program, you'll need to do that for 10 different games before you get a payout. Well, now you can. Unfortunately, there are a couple caveats - the promotion is only available in the USA, and you can't cash in PlayStation Trophies you've already earned.

According to this page on the Sony Rewards website, we learn that 100 silver trophies are worth 100 points - one point each - while gold trophies are worth 10 points each.

Sony Rewards, which is a free service providing points that can be spent on Sony products, now offers several "Rewards Passes" for earning in-game trophies on PlayStation platforms. 100 silver trophies will net you 100 points, 25 gold trophies get you 250 points and 10 platinum trophies give you 1000 points. For a silver trophy, they can win one point. One of the rewards in Sony's catalog is for a month of PlayStation Plus, priced at 999 points.

Entertainment Trifecta: Subscribe to 3 PlayStation Network services and earn 500 points. Before you get too carried away, it's not much. Points are also earned on a calendar year basis, so you've only got this month and December to add points derived from Trophy acquisition to your 2017 total.

Register 5 eligible discs and get a free Sony movie code. A nice gesture of appreciation for trophy hoarders, or could Sony have done more?

Microsoft Xbox boss Phil Spencer heard about it, and has tweeted a very gracious comment about Sony's new program.
