Chilly and wet weather starts Wednesday

That will be cool enough for patchy fog to settle in. Some drizzle possible towards dawn. Highs around 80. Wind SW 8-15 miles per hour. Highs will remain in the upper teens/low 20s throughout the week, and overnight lows will be in the single digits for a few nights.

High temperatures Tuesday were in the lower and middle 70s. We'll have partly to mostly sunny skies Wednesday through Friday. Highs will begin to rebound by Friday, with temperatures above-average this upcoming weekend. I expect scattered light showers to develop ahead of the front during the afternoon. The fog may be just as dense as it was Monday morning in some locations.

"Get ready for a big change to our weather!" The record high Tuesday was 81 degrees.

Tuesday: Mild, mostly cloudy, chance for late afternoon and evening showers.

However, an area of deep moisture will ride northeast to the north of the boundary bringing in a little rain this evening with the first of at least three upper-level impulses.

The initial band of rain showers with the front will move through eastern North Carolina early Wednesday morning.

This will reinforce the chilly air for the area into the weekend.but should hold up any freezing temperatures until Saturday night. Temperatures will drop to the upper 40s by mid-afternoon.

Even colder air will move in later this week. It's still not answerable for at least a couple more days. Still, it's good to prepare your vehicle now, just in case.

Wednesday will start on the wet side with a few showers. If that is indeed the case, snow will end Saturday morning then the sky will partially clear. And coupled with the colder air, it's Mother Nature's way of getting you into the Christmas spirit. It will likely be a cold, blustery day with highs in the 30s at best.
