Destiny 2 Limited Edition Ghost Speaker has Amazon Alexa Commands

Alois Reitbauer, VP and chief technical strategist at Dynatrace, which is partnering with AWS to offer performance monitoring of Alexa voice interactions, told IT Pro that voice will play a big part in the office, but it won't replace other forms of communication.

Today at AWS re:Invent, Amazon Web Services announced Alexa for Business, a new AWS service that provides every employee with an intelligent assistant to simplify their interactions with the technology around them at work-in conference rooms, at their desks, and around the office. Ask Alexa to save it for you.

Additionally Alexa for Business integrates with other applications and services that are commonly found in and around business conference rooms, including smart lighting.

Alexa for Business has the same capabilities as a standard Echo device. "As we continue to innovate, we're focused on creating digital programs with industry leaders like Amazon that make the Fridays experience more convenient for guests to recreate at home". And while many companies are building voice interfaces - Apple with Siri, Google with Assistant, and Microsoft with Cortana - none are quite as dominant as Amazon has been with Alexa.

But it's not limited to just starting shows or movies. This also works for specific weapons.

"You can simply say, 'Alexa, start the meeting, ' (and) Alexa turns on the video conferencing equipment, dials into your conference call, and gets the meeting going", Walker said. The speaker adds an additional layer of authenticity to the experience.

"Alexa for Business is a fully managed service for having many Alexa devices at work, to manage the users, to manage unique skills you may have, and to work". Note: This is not an Alexa device, just a wi-fi speaker, and requires an Alexa device to pair with.

There are also more practical uses for Alexa in a work setting, such as changing the temperature in a particular conference room or turning the lights on and off. Users will also be able to access their company's apps from home devices, checking what's on their office calendar and remotely joining meetings. You don't need it to use the Ghost skill on Alexa, but if you want it, it'll be available on December 19 (preorders are live now) and will set you back $90.
