Four dead after crash in Wexford between lorry and vehicle

It is being reported that there have been a number of fatalities in the Co Wexford crash, which is said to have involved a auto and a lorry. They had arrived at Shannon Airport just hours prior to the accident, and they were heading to the funeral of a relative when the tragedy occurred.

Gardai have confirmed that three men and a woman lost their lives in the crash.

IT has emerged this Tuesday that the four people killed in a horrific vehicle crash near New Ross were attending the funeral of a Limerick woman, who had moved to Wexford some years ago.

The road where the crash happened was closed all day as forensic officers carried out an investigation but it has since reopened.

According to emergency personnel at the scene of the crash yesterday, it appears the driver of the Alexander's BMW 5 series rental auto, which was travelling towards Wexford town, pulled left onto the hard shoulder and paused.

Two people were pronounced dead immediately at the scene.

The other two casualties died before they could be transferred to University Hospital Waterford.

The collision occurred just off the N25 between Cushinstown and Begern Cross on the New Ross to Ballinaboule road.

Driving conditions were described as reasonable at the time, although visibility was somewhat restricted by mist and drizzle.

The driver was treated at the scene for severe shock.
