Franken: "This Will Not Happen Again"

Franken:

"I am ashamed of that photo", Franken said. "I'm going to be held accountable and I'm going to try to be productive in the way I speak about this". One LA radio host said Franken forcibly kissed her when the two were on a USO tour in 2006. Tweeden also posted a photo of Franken smiling for the camera as he held his hands above her chest while she slept wearing a flak vest aboard a military plane on the same tour. "Every single day we've got people from the media, from Hollywood, from members of Congress that have allegations brought against them, and we think that this should go through due process", Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said, dodging questions about "Access Hollywood" audio unearthed during the campaign in which a almost 60-year-old Trump could be heard bragging that being famous allows men to grope women.

Franken apologized directly to Tweeden.

Four days later, another woman, Lindsay Menz, told CNN in an interview that Franken put his hand on her rear while taking a photograph with her at the Minnesota State Fair in 2010.

Regarding the alleged forced kiss, Franken said he doesn't recall it that way. He nonetheless added: "I feel you have to respect the women's experience".

"For that I am tremendously sorry", he said. After only communicating through written statements since the first allegation of sexual misconduct arose, Franken reached out to Minnesota media outlets on Sunday to say he's ready to return to work on Monday.

"I know I have a lot of work to do to regain the trust of the people I've let down, the people of Minnesota, my friends and colleagues, everyone who counts on me to be a champion for women", Franken told Minnesota newspaper the Star Tribune Sunday, describing himself as "embarrassed and ashamed". "So, you know, I don't know".

Rubio also had some harsh words for Alabama Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore, saying he finds the women who have come forward with accusations against Moore to be "credible". Several of the women said they were underage at the time.

Multiple women have come forward accusing Moore of pursuing relationships or making inappropriate sexual advances toward them when they were teenagers and he was in his 30s.

Conyers announced on Sunday he will step aside as the top Democrat on the House judiciary committee, less than a week after a BuzzFeed investigation disclosed he paid a former employee a $27,000 settlement as part of a confidentiality agreement and a second woman accused the congressman of misconduct.

Franken faces a Senate ethics investigation for improper conduct and hasn't been seen publicly since the first claim of misbehavior on November 16.

Asked on Monday what the bar for resignation should be for a sitting member of Congress, Franken declined to say. "I am trying to take responsibility by apologizing".

When asked whether groping a woman's butt is grounds for expulsion from the Senate, Rubio said "I believe it is", especially when it occurs during a person's Senate term.
