Video obtained by The Next Web also reveals that Instagram may be testing a GIF feature that lets users search for and place GIFs in their stories and posts, sourcing the GIF's via Giphy. Today, Instagram Stories is getting two new features that might be bigger than all of the rest. Users will also be able to pin "Stories" content to the top of their profiles for an extended period of time, through a new feature called Stories Highlights. There, the saved Stories will live alongside any posts you've previously archived. When your regular Stories expire after 24 hours, they will be automatically archived.

Highlights are one or more old Stories made into something new to show off on your profile page. Once the new Highlight is created, anyone that visits your profile will see it as a standalone story on your profile.

Instagram will start saving your Stories as soon as they expire, following an update on Tuesday. You can add them to your main feed, for instance, or use them to add to the highlights section of your profile - alternatively, you can turn off the archive feature entirely.

Recall that Snapchat introduced a similar feature in 2016-and so it's another one copied from the company by Instagram. With the new capabilities, Instagram users will be able to more easily keep and continue to display their older Stories. As we said, these archives are where you will find the stories that you will use for your Stories Highlights.

Just tap any story in the archive to watch it - or, add it to your story again, share it as a post, or add it to a highlight.

Instagram is working on several other new features, and reportedly inviting people to test the beta version of its Android and iOS apps.

If you want to remove just a certain photo in your highlight, choose Edit Highlight and scroll through the images.

Stories Archive will save every Story at the end of its 24-hour life-span, giving people the option to go back and create a Stories Highlight collection at a later date. Users will receive a notification when Stories Archives kicks in, letting them opt out of the feature. The former appears as a grid with the latest of your Stories found on the bottom.

The other Instagram update is related to its new Stories archive.
