Jak and Daxter PS2 Classics coming to the PS4 on December 6th

Jak and Daxter PS2 Classics coming to the PS4 on December 6th

For those too young to remember the Jak and Daxter games (sigh), they were Naughty Dog's attempt to push the 3D platformers of the N64/PSOne era to the next level, introducing open-world environments, varied gameplay, and a heavier emphasis on story. Since Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy is on the PlayStation Store for $14.99, it's reasonable to assume the other games in the series will be priced the same. Sony has not announced pricing; we've asked the company for details, and will update this article with any information we receive. The games can be bought for $15 apiece, or as part of a bundle. It is important to note that these are not remasters.

Like other PS2-on-PS4 titles, the Jak and Daxter games will enjoy 1080p visuals and trophy support. The series' emphasis on narrative and developing it's characters would serve as a foundation for the studio's award-winning work on PS3 and PS4. In the spirit of those throwback feels, they also released a new "Legacy Dashboard Theme" that transforms your PS4 into the classic stylings of the PlayStation 2. After multiple prototypes over the last 2 years, each of which were created to mimic functional aspects of the PS2 Dashboard, we have been given the opportunity to combine multiple disparate elements into a single piece of theme software which mimics the sights, sounds, and functionality of the Playstation 2 Dashboard.

More news: Mild weekend will lead to a cold week

A few months ago, Sony added the original Jak and Daxter to the PS4 PlayStation Store as a PS2 Classic, but the rest of the PS2 games were nowhere to be found. "In celebration of Naughty Dog's rich heritage, it is with great pleasure that we present to you these Jak & Daxter classics on the PS4".
