Matt Lauer Will Not Receive a Payout From NBC

According to the network executives, the executives including the president and chairman of NBC News, were tipped by the employees of the network, who received many inquiries about former NBC's co-host of morning talk show "Today", Matt Lauer's sexual misconduct allegations.

The 59-year-old Lauer was sacked on Wednesday around 36 hours later network received the very first complaint of sexual harassment against him from an NBC employee.

Questions have been swirling about the possibility because the New York Post published a story on Thursday that said Lauer's lawyers have been angling to get him a payout. The insider didn't deny that Matt's lawyers would try to fight for him to receive a payout, and the source was adamant that the network would not budge on their decision. Since Lauer was terminated "for cause", NBC doesn't have to pay the rest of his $20-million-per-year salary. Lauer's contract was said to expire in late 2018, but the Post indicated that it stretched through the first half of 2019, ultimately leading to the $30 million figure.

The senior NBC News source did not dispute that Lauer's attorneys might hatch a plan to get him paid. But the network is reportedly refusing any sort of payout.

Subsequent reports in Variety and the New York Times cited multiple sources who claimed that Lauer has engaged in a pattern of sexually predatory behavior over the years, including allegedly exposing himself to a female employee and having sex with another in his office who felt helpless to acquiesce.

Three women are known to have filed formal complaints with NBC this week about Lauer's alleged wrongdoing.

Mr. Lack said in the memo, a "team of the most experienced NBCUniversal Legal and Human Resources leaders have begun a thorough and timely review of what happened" regarding Lauer who is being accused of sexual misconduct.
