Mum kicked off flight for breastfeeding her baby

According to KHOU, Mei Rui was traveling from Houston to NY with her elderly parents when she took her son out of his seat and began breastfeeding him until she was confronted by a flight attendant. All this and she still managed to make it to a flight scheduled to leave at 6:30 am, so she could participate in a recording related to a cancer study in NY. The plans were made months ago. "We're a family of seniors and a mother and a baby, why did they have to treat us this way?" She asked Spirit reps why she could not get back on board and she was told because she was not compliant. "It would be very embarrassing".

"I just want to know why we were kicked off the plane?"

"These pilots have put their quest for a new contract ahead of getting customers to their destinations and the safety of their fellow Spirit Team Members", Berry said in a statement.

Rui states that the door on the plane had yet to close and that she promised that she would buckle him into his seat before take-off.

The flight attendants conferred at the front of the plane.

After sitting at the gate for more than two hours during a weather delay, everyone was ordered off the plane. Hoping her son would go to sleep and knowing he just needed a little bit more time before he drifted off, Rui begged the attendant to let her just finish nursing him. She never got there.

In the interview with KHOU 11 below, Rui admits that her son was making a lot of noise but adds "that's not criminal". But now you can barely make eye contact with an airport or airline staffer - whether it be at the ticket counter, customs, gate or with a flight attendant - out of fear that saying or doing or wearing the wrong thing will get you booted from a flight.

"Because you were not compliant".

Shortly afterwards, a flight attendant told her to stop and put him in his seat because they claimed they were ready to take off. "I think we deserve to know that". However, the employee refused to give more details.

"If this happened to your family, what would you do?"

But the airline representative cut her off. The family waited an hour for their luggage, but it never came. Rui told The Washington Post that they were terrified and traumatized by the incident and that her father, who has a heart condition, later collapsed that day and had to be rushed to the ER.

Spirit's statement continued, "We were forced to remove a passenger from flight 712 after they refused to comply with crew instructions several times while the doors were closed during taxi and safety briefing".

Schuler noted that FAA regulations and airline policies require all passengers stay seated and buckled during takeoff and landing. "As a courtesy, we issued a full refund to the passenger in question".

Rui never made it to NY.

In a tweet, a man claiming to be Rui's husband said that Spirit was not taxing when his wife was removed.

The family lost their possession during Hurricane Harvey and are still living in temporary housing.
