Overwatch Winter Wonderland Goes on a 5v1 Yeti Hunt

Blizzard just released a new Developer Update video detailing the second coming of the Winter Wonderland event for Overwatch.

Finally, a completely new game mode will be Mei's Yeti Hunt - an asymmetrical 1 v 5 boss fight. The idea will be that five Meis will band together to chase after a unsafe yeti-skinned Winston, who is controlled by a single player. Kaplan confirmed a "long-awaited Hanzo skin" as well as a skin for both Junkrat and Roadhog, leaving players to speculate on the rest. He also says that Winter Wonderland will include a seasonal pass-over of some of the maps, including the return of snowy Hanamura and King's Row, as well as a new seasonal pass on the Black Forest arena map.

Since the game released in May of previous year, Overwatch has continued to grow its playerbase with new characters, cosmetics, and a continued focus on special limited run events, with the next in-game event to begin right around the holidays. You can once again enjoy the Global Snowball Offensive mode that has a team of Meis throwing balls of fresh powder at one another, but you can now play that mode on the Black Forest map as well. While the Meis look for Winston, he is looking for power-ups to fuel his Primal Rage super. Set on the Nepal map, Mei's Yeti Hunt does still focus on characters shooting each other - but there's a twist. If enough Meis go down, Winston wins (tons).

"I know a lot of you are thinking it sounds kind of ridiculous and kind of silly, and I'm here to tell you it absolutely is", Kaplan said. Kaplan says that the point of the seasonal brawls is to be fun, light-hearted distractions, and that it is created to be silly by nature.
