Penn State to play Washington in Fiesta Bowl

"I'm thrilled for our football student-athletes, coaches and staff who have worked tirelessly for this opportunity and have earned back-to-back berths in a New Year's Six bowl", stated Sandy Barbour, Penn State Director of Athletics.

The Big Ten-champion Buckeyes will play in the Cotton Bowl on December 29 against Pac-12 champion Southern California.

Penn State has never lost in six previous trips to the Fiesta Bowl, though its last appearance was in 1997.

No. 9 Penn State will face No. 12 Washington in the Fiesta Bowl. "This is a reward for them, and an opportunity to be together one more time and continue to create pride in our University". Penn State also has a 21-7 victory in Seattle back in 1921. He was the Big Ten offensive player of the year. That game was played at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Ariz.

For the Nittany Lions the game will provide the team with a chance at some redemption after a Rose Bowl loss to USC last season and a bit of unique revenge against a Huskies team that bumped Penn State out of the playoff as the No.4 seed.

Rahne had been passing game coordinator for Penn State the past four seasons, coaching quarterbacks (2014-15) and tight ends (2016-17). The Nittany Lions are 6-0 in Fiesta Bowl games.
