"I think Francia should be getting this award". Gomez of course dedicated the award to her pal Francia Raisa, who donated a kidney to Gomez earlier this year.

According to Gomez, she can now look at her body and know that her torso scar represents life.

30, 2017, Selena Gomez took the stage at Billboard's annual Women in Music Dinner and Awards Gala, after actress Elle Fanning and Gomez's BFF Francia Raisa presented her with the Woman of the Year award.

Gomez later reflected on how "incredibly lucky" she was.

The Canadian star previously had a number of sweet snaps of Selena on his page, including one dating back to April this year in which she is seen clutching his face and giving him a kiss on the cheek. "I want people to know that I respect the platform that I have so deeply because I knew that I wanted to be a part of something great, I wanted people to feel great".

But Selena tells Billboard she'll always cherish the time she spent as the Starboy hitmaker's girlfriend, and even though he has stopped following her on social media, she insists they will always have a special connection.

"I would like to thank my fantastic team and family because they stuck with me through some really hard times", Gomez, who suffers from lupus, continued. "I'm good, I'm really good".

She then paid tribute to those who had come before her. "But how crucial it is that the voices that are being heard for the first time is so great, and I'm so grateful for all the older women who have lifted all of us up, because I couldn't be here without any of you". Fanning also acknowledged the moment she met Gomez considering her as am empowered woman and a true friend.
