Shooting reported at high school in New Mexico

Christesen did not say if the dead included the shooter. 2 students are deceased.

The two victims were students at the school police said, adding that no other injuries were reorted.

It was not immediately clear if the shooting happened inside of the school or who was suspected of firing the shots.

Navajo Nation President Russell Begaye said in a statement that all schools in the area were placed on preventative lockdown as a precaution.

The sheriff's department said in a Facebook post that morning that Aztec High School was being locked down and evacuated.

Deputies are asking everyone to avoid the area as emergency crews work the scene. Aztec, a community with fewer than 6,000 residents, is about 16 miles northeast of Farmington, N.M.

Two of the dead are believed to be students and more than a dozen were injured, KOAT-TV reported.
