At the draw ceremony held at the State Kremlin Palace in Moscow Friday, South Korea was drawn into Group F for next year's football tournament.

Thanks to Friday's Final Draw for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, not only will Mexico will face Germany for a second straight year in Russian Federation, it will open Group G play against the defending champion on June 17. With four-time World Cup title holders Germany topping the November world rankings, the North, Central, and the North, Central American and Caribbean qualifying tournament winners Mexico sit at No. 16, followed by Sweden, which beat Italy in the European qualifying playoffs, at No. 18.

"The truth is that we can compete and play them toe-to-toe hopefully".

Mexico has faced each of its three opponents in previous World Cups - Germany (0W-1D-2L), Korea Republic (1-0-0) and Sweden (0-0-1). It will then face Mexico in Rostov-on-Don on June 24th and then Germany on the 27th in Kazan.

The defending champion German national team already has an initial target as they enter the 2018 World Cup group stage. South Korea has met Germany and Mexico at a World Cup before but they've never played Sweden at the world's biggest sporting event. "But the ball is round".
