White House dismisses questions over Donald Trump's slurring as 'ridiculous'

"His throat was dry". "I'm just saying, 'Can you imagine?'"

Shah, pressed on the health concerns, dismissed suggestions the slurring signaled a deeper problem.

During Trump's major speech on Wednesday announcing that the US would recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, the president appeared to start slurring his words, leading many online to speculate what could be the causing the impairment.

Trump released a clean bill of health from his longtime personal physician previous year that was widely panned as laughable for lacking details and offering an over-the-top portrait of Trump's health.

They added: "He's been working in meetings all day and in fact is still here working now".

Many have speculated that he was wearing loose dentures at the time of the speech, while others wondered whether he was having a stroke. "It's like someone hit him with a blow dart just before he went out to make the speech". But the pronunciation of those words appeared to slur.

While insisting there is no shame in wearing dentures, Noah said there is shame in Trump having dentures, because "he's vain as hell". "At this point, I wouldn't be shocked to find out he is the dude from 'Men in Black, '" Noah said jokingly. To many on the internet, it appeared as if the president was struggling to prevent his dentures, if he uses any, from falling out.

"The Late Show" host Stephen Colbert also played the clip of Trump's speech twice during his opening monologue, ABC News reported.

"He managed to get every word in the speech right, except the last one", Colbert said during CBS's "The Late Show". "I really enjoy doing it", Trump said. "We're live when Trump addresses a joint session of Congress for the "Shshh" of the Union".
