Winter Weather Advisory Into Early Tuesday Morning

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. "These risky winter conditions will overtake the Arrowhead region of Northeastern Minnesota later this evening".

The watch included the Iron Range, areas of the Arrowhead away from Lake Superior, and International Falls. A cold front will move from west to east across the state and bring quickly falling temperatures and increasing northwest winds.

A quick burst of snow is expected in the mountains Sunday night into Monday morning, according to the National Weather Forecast.

For the remainder of the week, temperatures are expected to reach highs in the 20s with lows in the mid-teens with periodic chances of slight snow, but not amounting to much accumulation. It starts at 3:00 p.m. Monday and lasts until 3:00 a.m. Tuesday.

While not as serious as an Ice Storm Warning or a Winter Storm Warning, NWS says a Winter Weather Advisory is issued whenever freezing rain is expected or 2 - 4 inches of snow is in the forecast. Snowfall of 3 to 5 inches expected, with blowing snow and near-blizzard conditions possible at times.
