Words make friends: Young rapper meets elderly gaming partner for first time

Spencer, 22, lives in Harlem. He said they started "randomly" playing the online game, which pits two people together in a Scrabble-like contest, and have played 324 games. Spencer's impressive lyrical flow probably contributes to his many wins on the popular app "Words with Friends"- which led to the unlikely friendship with 81-year-old Rosalind Guttman.

The trip was arranged by Amy Butler, a pastor at a church in Manhattan. The pastor also flew to Florida with him.

A young man and an elderly woman who "randomly" met playing Words With Friends together online past year and went on to share 324 games have now met up in person.

'We played 300+ games together and she actually ended up becoming a good friend of mine.

As of Saturday morning, Spencer's tweet had amassed more than 120,000 retweets, 520,000 likes and 2,600 comments.

"She came to me weeks later and asked me how would I be interested in going to Florida for a day to meet her", Sleyon said.

One commenter wrote: "Well, this is truly the cutest thing I've seen today, and it made me genuinely happy, thank you".

The accounts expressing joy at the unusual friendship story included the official account of Words with Friends.

"We can't get enough of the this", the post read. "Amazing. Thank you for sharing your story with us", the game's makers tweeted in response to Spencer's photos.
