Rumored for next generation flagships like the Samsung Galaxy S9 and LG G7, Qualcomm today officially announced the Snapdragon 845 processor. The main USP of the device is the promise of all-day computing.

HP and Asus have announced the first Windows 10 PCs running on ARM - Snapdragon 835 - and they're boasting about instant-on, 22 hour battery life, and gigabit LTE. Both models will launch with Windows 10 S, but can be upgraded to the full Windows 10 experience.

The first Snapdragon-powered Windows 10 laptop is here and it's coming out of Taiwan. Asus NovaGo also features Windows 10 features such as Windows Ink with stylus support, Microsoft's virtual assistant Cortana, and Windows Hello for biometric authentication. Still, it's pretty thin and light.

The big unknowns at this point, other than whether or not HP's battery life claims hold up to our own lab tests, is how the Snapdragon chip will stack up performance- and price-wise compared with competing Intel-powered PCs.

Qualcomm set its sights on the Windows market late a year ago when it announced that its Snapdragon 835 SoC processor would find its way into Asus, HP, and Lenovo Windows 10 devices featuring "Always On" connectivity.

There are plenty of Microsoft Surface rivals - or clones if you like - out there and the HP Envy x2 is now another one.

"[Always Connected PCs] allow you to work for the day and not take the PC power cord with you", Cristiano Amon, Executive Vice President of Qualcomm's QCT division, said. Pricing starts at $599. The NovaGo can be similarly equipped with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, but its fixed display is a 13.3-inch 1920 x 1080 pixel panel.

Frost didn't provide as many hardware specs as Asus' CEO did, but the he did have some details about the Envy x2's form factor. We'll be checking out the new ASUS laptop later today, so stay tuned for our hands-on impressions to find out if this is a device worth your time.

It was looking like 2017 might end without any sign of these new Windows devices with Snapdragon 835 inside, despite Qualcomm earlier saying they would be available in the second half of the year.
