3 reasons why Bears made the right decision hiring Matt Nagy

Here are three reasons why the Bears made the right decision to hire him as head coach.

Matt Nagy is going to be the next head coach of the Chicago Bears.

Even Andy Reid himself had praised Nagy as a future head coach in the National Football League, and the Chiefs recent offensive success with Nagy taking control of the play calling for K.C. only served to bolster that reputation.

-Later, Nagy was an assistant to Eagles coaches in 2010 and was the team's quality control coach in 2011 and 2012.

Nagy and Reid would script the first 15 plays the Chiefs would run in their upcoming game, and those 15 plays were mapped to probe the defense to test for what might work later in the game.

Chicago also interviewed Philadelphia quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo, Minnesota and New England offensive coordinators Pat Shurmur and Josh McDaniels, Vikings defensive coordinator George Edwards and Chicago defensive coordinator Vic Fangio. The beauty of a first 15 is that it's flexible.

All signs point toward Nagy as a good choice. Running back Kareem Hunt had his busiest three-game stretch of the season late in the year with Nagy calling plays.

The Lancaster, Pennsylvania product split time as a starter with Brian Ginn during his career at DE, but left the school holding over 20 career passing records, including passing yards (8,214) and touchdowns (58).
