Camila Cabello opens up about leaving Fifth Harmony

This is the first time Cabello has spoken about her departure from Fifth Harmony in depth and their VMA performance.

But the recent critical and commercial stumbles of Taylor Swift, Katy Perry and others have resulted in a fresh-faced changing of the guard on the charts, led by Halsey, SZA, Cardi B and now, Camila Cabello, whose sizzling smash Havana featuring Young Thug climbed to a No. 2 high on the Billboard Hot 100 this week.

Oooooof. Camila usually avoids anything that could even remotely be contrued as talking smack about her former bandmates, so insinuating that Fifth Harmony's diss was petty is probably the most pointed diss we'll ever get from the "Havana" singer. And the girl who the shade was allegedly aimed at definitely agrees that it had less-than positive motives. "It's you babe/ And I'm a sucker for the way that you move, babe/ And I could try to run, but it would be useless", she sang.

And the tweet that Beats 1 made on Twitter was the icing on top, as they quoted Elton saying, "I'd just say congratulations". That she can quickly switch to her full voice for the desperate chorus is the mark of a star. "I have to make space for the good stuff to happen in my life", she told NYT.

After the moment went viral, Fifth Harmony explained their interpretation of the performance on "Good Morning America". I was just like, 'What? "Which I think is super attractive, and I don't know exactly what there is to credit for that, but I'm definitely glad it's happening".

Meanwhile, Camila recently opened up about how she thinks there is a lot of "breaking barriers" in the music industry right now and she is thrilled to see Latin artists getting mainstream recognition now. "It became clear that it was not possible to do solo stuff and be in the group at the same time", she said.

If he were to meet Cabello, John said he would tell her: "You make me happy... your records make me smile". "And obviously, Blake Lively is a queen".

Cabello's debut solo album, Camila, is set to be released on Friday, January 12. And I love them together but they were super cool.
