CES 2018: BlackBerry announces bronze, dual SIM version of KEYone

CES 2018: BlackBerry announces bronze, dual SIM version of KEYone

It did confirm the launch of the BlackBerry KeyOne Bronze Edition and the USA availability of the BlackBerry Motion today.

The BlackBerry Motion has been available in Europe and Canada previously and now the handset is coming to the US.

There's a new BlackBerry on the block, but it's not a whole new handset, for now. You can buy it straight through the Amazon and Best Buy and can use it with GSM networks like AT&T and T-Mobile.

BlackBerry decided against announcing the successor to the KEYOne at CES, instead opting to use its stage time to make two smaller announcements - one meant to bolster sales of its existing smartphone range, and a second that could help drum up excitement for the year ahead.

There's now no word on the BlackBerry KeyOne Bronze Edition release date or price. Specs-wise, it has the same hardware as the Black Edition version, including 4GB RAM and 64GB expandable storage.

The BlackBerry Motion will finally go on sale in the U.S., starting January 12.

"With new BlackBerry smartphones from TCL Communications now available in 50 countries around the world, we have a solid foundation to continue building upon our portfolio in the new year".

After having success with the BlackBerry Motion and Keyone in 2017, BlackBerry will release at least 2 new Android smartphones in 2018. The phone runs a pretty lightly skinned version of Android 7.1 with a good handful of BlackBerry software tweaks, many of which BlackBerry says will be trickling down to the KeyOne.

"We are excited that TCL Communication has made a decision to bring the BlackBerry Motion with its outstanding battery life and its touchscreen interface to the United States, in addition to introducing a dual-SIM variant of the highly regarded BlackBerry KEYone for global markets".
