Cinevista studio fire: Investigators recover body of audio assistant

Eight tenders of the Mumbai Fire Brigade were rushed to the court complex in south Mumbai's fort area. No casualties or injuries have been reported so far.

An official said there were some people shooting inside the studio, but they were quickly evacuated.

Although the studio had fire-fighting equipment installed, it was not functional, said fire officials. The fire was successfully brought under control by 8.30 am and no causalities were reported.

According to sources, well-known Hindi TV serials Bepanah and Haasil were being shot at the studio when the fire broke out.

According to a CNN-News18, the fire department found the charred body of Gopi Verma, a sound engineer with a television show, during an early morning search operation at the location. Fire officials said the first call was made around 7.50 this morning. A technician was killed in a fire that broke out at Cinevista studio in east central Mumbai on Saturday.

This incident comes after the massive fire in Kamala Mills compound that claimed the lives of 14 people on December 29.

In yet another incident on January 4, four persons, including two children, were killed and five others seriously injured after an upper floor of a residential building in suburban Marol caught fire. "Nearly 150 people had been evacuated", said deputy chief fire officer Shyam Kharbade.
