Costa Reflects On Spell At Chelsea

It is so long ago that Antonio Conte replied to a nice text from Diego Costa to tell him that he didn't want him at the club this season, he might as well have replied 'new phone, who dis'. The Spanish worldwide moved from Chelsea during the summer following a spat with manager Antonio Conte. "Chelsea is a great club and I only have good memories".

"I learned English there", he laughed.

The Argentine coach added that the game was very good and that the fans were special, and that they left a really good impression about their country.

Costa also spoke about his frustration at sitting in the stands and not being able to help his team on the pitch.

It was in September that Atletico announced the signing of Costa, with Spanish media saying they had agreed to pay Chelsea around 60 million euros ($71.3 million) to bring back a player who starred for them when they won La Liga and reached the Champions League final in 2013/14.

With Costa in the squad, Atletico now have an embarrassment of riches up front, and the Spaniard has claimed that the competition in the ranks will only benefit the team. The forwards are all doing well. "I will not get to be God anymore". You go through ups and downs. "I want to play", the 29-year-old said at his presentation. There's a lot of competition.

Still, that's in the past now and he is looking forward to scoring goals for Atletico again.

He could make his second debut for the club he previously represented between 2010 and 2014 in a Copa del Rey clash away to Lleida on Wednesday.
