Irish rockers Kodaline said they were "absolutely shocked" by the news, and pop singer Maggie Rogers said, "Dolores O'Riordan's voice helped me understand my place in the world". She admitted to me that her anorexia stemmed from wanting to have control over at least one aspect of her life.

The singer was in London for a short recording session when she passed away and her family are said to be "devastated".

"Family members are devastated to hear the breaking news and have requested privacy at this very hard time", Holmes said in an emailed statement.

The details of O'Riordan's death have not been announced, with family and friends have requesting privacy.

In 2013, the mother-of-four had disclosed that she had been raped as a child.

The Cranberries canceled a string of shows a year ago, revealing on social media that O'Riordan was having a tough recovery from an ongoing back problem.

"She had to be totally inspired and in the moment".

"I'm always writing - it's part of you, it's part of your soul, of who you are". She said she had a feeling something would happen, but hoped Dolores would be able to deal with her struggles over her broken relationship with Burton.
