Democrats say Americans want Trump impeached - here's what new poll says

U.S. President Donald Trump praised results of a poll that suggested most Americans were happy with the state of the economy.

"It's been a very tough freshman year for President Donald Trump, by any measure", said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the poll. "That is the highest number ever recorded by this poll", he wrote on Twitter. Fifty-seven percent of voters stated Trump is not fit to serve as president and 69 percent stated that he is not level-headed.

Regarding the nation's economy, 66 percent of respondents say it is "excellent" or "good", up from 63 percent last month.

According to a new poll from Quinnipiac released Wednesday, a slight majority of Americans do not want the Democrats to impeach President Trump if they regain the House of Representatives.

The wealthy will benefit most from this plan, 66 percent of voters believe, while 22 percent say the middle class will benefit most and 4 percent say low income people will benefit most. While almost 70 per cent of voters feel Trump is not "level headed", 53 per cent feel the president is "intelligent" compared to the 44 per cent who said he's not "intelligent" and the 28 per cent who said he's "level headed".

The poll went on to ask voters to grade Trump's first year in office.

The catch? That same poll shows that voters credit former President Barack Obama with the country's economic success - not Trump.

Words most used to describe him are not "stable genius".

Asked to grade Trump's first year in office, 43 percent gave Trump an A, B or C. Thirty-nine percent gave him an F, while 17 percent gave him a D.
