Fieldbrook Foods recalls of Orange Cream Bars

So far the FDA have not reported any illnesses connected to the ice cream.

The recalled products are orange cream bars, chocolate coated vanilla ice cream bars, and variety packs that include the chocolate coated vanilla ice cream bars.

Listeria monocytogenes, a "common organism found in nature", according to the release, could cause listeriosis if consumed in food.

The recalled Purple Cow Orange Cream Bars, which come in a 12-ct retail box with a production date of November 30, 2017, and a "best by" date of November 30, 2018, were sold in Meijer retail stores in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky and Wisconsin. It can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths in pregnant women. The expansion of the recall is out of precaution after a few more samples tested positive for Listeria.

The ice cream bars have best-by dates between January 1 and Dec, 31, 2018.

The ice cream was sold at Smart & Final and other various stores. The listeria concerns came up after routine testing revealed the presence of the bacteria in a few ice cream samples.

"There is no evidence of any contamination prior to October 30, 2017, but the company has issued the recall back to January 1, 2017, through an abundance of caution and in full cooperation with the FDA,".

Consumers may contact Fieldbrook Foods at 1-800-333-0805, ext.

Customers who have purchased the products should discard them and bring their purchase receipt to Giant for a full refund.

At Bi-Lo, the products were sold under the Southern Home brand, according to a news release from parent company Southeastern Grocers.
