Hamas leader calls for comprehensive strategy to confront US, Israeli Jerusalem moves

On Tuesday, Breitbart Jerusalem Bureau Chief Aaron Klein applauded Trump's threat to cut Palestinian aid, saying that the PA is an "anti-Western" entity that supports terrorism and incites violence against Israel.

The $125 million in question amounts to about a third of Washington's annual donations to the agency. At the end of 2017, the UN General Assembly passed a resolution against the United States president's decision to appoint Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

UNRWA spokesman Chris Gunness said it had not been informed of any changes to USA funding at this time and responded to Netanyahu by saying that only the UN General Assembly could alter their mandate.

The Islamic State likely lacks the reach into Gaza to launch a large-scale attack, but it could encourage its supporters to launch more rockets into Israel, knowing that Israel's military will respond against Hamas, which it holds responsible for all military aggression from Gaza, Mohannad Sabry, the author of "Sinai: Egypt's Linchpin, Gaza's Lifeline, Israel's Nightmare", said.

He also called on other countries which support Palestinians and oppose US policies in the region to join them in the unified strategy. "I am talking about the Palestinian Authority's official media outlets; their official schools; their official camps".

He said neither U.S. President Donald Trump nor Israel's ruling Likud party "would be able to change the identity or the features of Jerusalem, which has always a Palestinian, Arab and Islamic face and identity".

Privately, however, Netanyahu urged Trump not to enact the cuts, according to the Times of Israel.

In the West Bank on Wednesday, Israeli troops shot dead a 17-year-old Palestinian during a protest, Palestinian medics said. A senior Israeli official told him that the "humanitarian situation in Gaza is complicated enough and harming UNRWA funding will only make it more complicated".

While both groups are designated as terrorist organizations by the United States and Israel, IS sees Hamas as a nationalist movement that does not adhere to the strict interpretation of Islam. The agency provides education, social services and healthcare to more than 5 million Palestinian refugees.
