Hockey Canada Reveals 2018 Men's Olympic Roster

Thirteen players are from the Russian KHL, three from Sweden, three from the American Hockey League, one from Austria, one from Germany and four from the Swiss league.

The 33 medals forecasted for the Canadian team (seven gold, 12 silver and 14 bronze) would wallop the country's previous top total of 26 claimed by the host team at the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver and Whistler, B.C., although the breakdown there was 14 gold, seven silver and five bronze.

Chris Kelly, who won the 2011 Stanley Cup with the Boston Bruins, leads the way with 833 regular-season games in the National Hockey League.

Wolski played in 451 games, accumulating 99 goals and 168 assists for Colorado, Phoenix, the New York Rangers, Florida and Washington.

"These guys that are going to be named here today they earned it", general manager Sean Burke said. These names includes Quinton Howden, Cody Goloubef and Brandon Kozun - who all played for Canada in the World Junior Hockey Championships.

"A lot like other Canadians, they've managed to battle it and fight back. It's about guys who have received a no but found a way to make a yes".

Training camp starts January 28 in Latvia.

The Olympics will take place February 9-25. The World Juniors is one of the best tournaments around, with some of the most exciting hockey. Former Ottawa Senators forward Chris Kelly has spent time with the AHL's Belleville Senators this season, while Christian Thomas was loaned to the team from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

With the opening ceremonies less than a month away, the Canadian Olympic Committee has yet to state what the Canadian team's medal target is for Pyeongchang. Vernon's Andrew Ebbett, who played in the National Hockey League for Anaheim, Chicago, Minnesota, Phoenix, Vancouver and Pittsburgh, is the only B.C. native to make the team.

"We need to play games to form as a team", said Desjardins, who had the bulk of his roster play in at least four tourney games during the evaluation process that looked at 100 players. She has competed for the USA since 2013 when she helped the team to a silver medal at the International Ice Hockey Federation U18 Women's World Championship.

Gracenote has been increasingly bullish on Canada's medal prospects in Pyeongchang, predicting 29 a year ago and upping that to 31 in November. She helped the USA win the 2017 International Ice Hockey Federation Women's World Championship and the 2017 Four Nations Cup. But there will be some players recognized by local hockey fans.
