Hunt Resumes for Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 Wreckage

06 de enero de 2018, 11:07Kuala Lumpur, Jan 6 (Prensa Latina) After reaching a cooperation agreement with the USA private company Ocean Infinity, Malaysian authorities confirmed today a new phase of search for flight MH370, which disappeared in March 2014. The vessel is carrying several autonomous submarines which can be launched from the ship to scour the seabed for the jet.

The U.S. company, Ocean Infinity, said earlier this week that it was "hopeful of receiving the final contract award for the resumption of the search for MH370 over the coming days".

"This is created to save time should the contract award be forthcoming, as hoped", it said.

Australia ran the original search on behalf of Malaysia because the airliner is thought to have crashed in the vast area of Australian search and rescue responsibility. "Now we have approached Australia and China, and we are working together to resume the search for MH370", he said.

Malaysia approved a new attempt to find the wreckage of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, the country's government announced Saturday, almost four years after the plane's disappearance sparked one of aviation's biggest mysteries, NBC News reported.

The Australian-led sea search, the largest in aviation history, was suspended in January a year ago.

Nonetheless, Ocean Infinity is reportedly confident it can locate the wreckage using intelligence from the Australian Transport Safety Bureau and Boeing flight simulators, in conjunction with the vessel's enhanced search equipment, according to the Daily Express.

New Australian Transport Minister Barnaby Joyce told Australian Broadcasting Corp. on Thursday that the decision on whether to resume the search was Malaysia's.

The minister said, "It is our duty to look for answers and the plane".

Search conditions are best during the current southern hemisphere summer, before the colder months bring storm-force winds and mountainous seas.
