More than $400 million jackpots tempt Mega Millions, Powerball players

The Mega Million jackpot has been rolling over since mid October.

Three winning lottery tickets were sold in Tennessee as the jackpot soared to $550 million on Thursday. The odds of winning are one in 292.2 million. If cash is preferred, the prize would be at about $348 million.

In fact, this is the first time ever that both games have offered jackpots of $400 million or more at the same time. The Powerball jackpot for Saturday, January 6, stands at a $550 million annuity value or a $347.9 million cash prize.

Don't throw away those Powerball tickets just yet.

Tickets for both the jackpots are $2 per play and they can be purchased at many outlets. There is a drawing tonight at 11 p.m. for that game.

Powerball tickets are sold in 44 states, and Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. "We always encourage people to play the Lottery responsibly and this time, that also means following the directives of state and local officials by staying off the roads until conditions have improved". As with all Florida Lottery products, players must be 18 years or older to play.
