Mourinho losing his memory, claims Conte

It's hardly a secret that Conte and the man who of course was seen as a Chelsea legend by many fans - and by some still is - do not see eye to eye, and it seems that Conte can not help but take the bait where Mourinho is concerned.

On Thursday, Mourinho said he did not need to act like a "clown" on the sidelines to prove his commitment to his club. "Maybe, sometimes, I think that someone forgets what's said in the past, which is his behaviour", Conte said. You said Mourinho said you behaved as a clown. "I was speaking about myself, saying I don't need to behave like a clown to show passion".

The two managers have been engaging in a public war of words over the past 48 hours, beginning when Mourinho insisted that just because he doesn't "run up and down the touchline like a clown" doesn't mean that he doesn't care about his job or that he might walk away.

"I celebrated goals by running 50 metres". The question that comes to him comes to him wrong and because of that he has that out-of-control reaction. Honestly, I don't blame him.

"Did he? Not me", the United boss replied.

"What has never happened to me and will never happen is to be suspended for match-fixing".

"In my one year and a half [in England] I never talked about other coaches".

Simeone was chased by Chelsea before Conte's appointment in June 2016 but he made a decision to extend his stay in La Liga.

The former Italy manager - who has always denied any wrongdoing - served a four-month ban in relation to the affair in 2012.

But Mourinho denied that he had aimed the comments at Conte.

After weeks of docile, drowsy press conferences in which he has largely borne the insults of other managers and the pressures of a faltering title defence with good grace, Antonio Conte finally snapped yesterday.

I think he should remind himself of what he has done and said in the past. Conte said. "Maybe sometimes I think that someone forget what they said in the past or which is his behaviours and sometimes I think there is, I don't know the name, demenza senile, when you are a bit [Conte taps his temple] when you forget what you do in the past".

Conte tapped his temple as he spoke, and was asked to clarify his comment.

According to the Sun, Chelsea maintained that Conte was in search of a better English phrase which implied "amnesia" rather than remarking regarding the counterpart's mental state.
