Paige VanZant Suffers Gruesome Arm Break After Throwing Spinning Backfist

Paige VanZant showed off her toughness in her fight with Jessica-Rose Clark in the co-main event of UFC St. Louis (Fight Night 124) on Sunday night at Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri on FOX Sports 1. She had lost 2 of her last 3 coming into this fight, however, her popularity had been bolstered since her last fight due to her appearance on the Food Network hit TV show "Chopped".

As seen in the fight, VanZant suffered a unanimous decision loss to Clark.

For Clark, confidence isn't a problem and the Aussie believes she has VanZant covered: "I think I have an advantage everywhere".

"I got to hand my mom a big wad of cash after my fight and go, "Hey, go do whatever you want, I don't care what you do"..."

After a grueling cut to strawweight, VanZant moved up in weight to mark her territory in the 125lbs division.

Clark came into the fight ranked number 10 in the UFC women's flyweight division and will set her sights for a top 10 opponent to make her claim as a serious division contender. Clark kept the position for rest of round, throwing solid elbows to VanZant's ribs and face. She throws weird stuff and I love that. "I'll be back better and stronger than ever!" she wrote.

"It was to the point where I needed 100 percent focus on me and I needed to be selfish and know that it's my time and I'm not going to get better unless people are focused on me and I have that in OR", she said. VanZant tweeted, alongside a photo of an X-ray of her broken arm.

The victory gives Clark a two-fight winning streak in the UFC, and a three-fight streak overall.

Indeed, it seemed like a spinning back-fist in the first round caused the break.
