Performers rehearse for the upcoming Grammy Awards show at Madison Square Garden

Jay-Z goes into Sunday's ceremony in NY with a leading eight nominations followed by Lamar (7), Bruno Mars (6) and Childish Gambino, the alter ego of actor Donald Glover, with 5.

But because of our expertise in this Grammy game, we know what's obvious: The Recording Academy is unpredictable.

The Grammys ceremony will be hosted by late-night TV personality James Corden and will be broadcast live on Sunday (January 28).

Childish Gambino, "Awaken, My Love!". Kendrick Lamar follows with seven nominations and Bruno Mars picked up six.

I don't blame you. But this is the Grammys - and that's why it's not going to happen. It's easy to make compelling cases for both men.

"Hip-hop and black music in general has really had its finger on the pulse of the American temperament for the last few years", Ross Scarano, vice president of content at Billboard magazine, told Reuters. "I don't think about nobody but me or the Migos winning". Plus, it also was ubiquitous. We'll surely be hearing much of her in the years to come. That's enough for Fonsi and friends to take home the prize. Mars' strongest competition is "1-800-273-8255", a powerful offering that doubles as a public-service announcement by using the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline phone number as its title. As has been the case for the last 45 years, CBS will be broadcasting the awards which are set for a 3.5 hour runtime.

The 2018 Grammys are also moving back to New York City after 15 years in Los Angeles, and plan to honor that fact with an homage to something unique to the city: Broadway. I took that counterpoint class that most people would say I was insane to take, and that literally taught me to orchestrate.

It's time to discuss who will be at the Grammys. And between Cara, Khalid and Michaels, I say Michaels has the edge, particularly because the "Issues" singer has written plenty of hits for others, and voters may want to reward her for that, as well.

An album is eligible for this category if more than half (at least 51%) of an album's playing time is dedicated to "new rock, hard rock, or metal recordings". Numerous presenters are, of course, nominees themselves, and more will likely be announced as the show nears. You can also get it on game consoles like the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One and phones and tablets running Android or iOS. "I don't give a f***, respect to everybody who is nominated but whatever, I'm speaking for mine". Yeah, seven-time nominee Lamar and U2 both turned up on each other's records a year ago, so that part of it makes sense, even if no one really needs to see Bono trying to "out-relevant" Lamar onstage.

Tyler will battle it out with Kendrick, Jay's "4.44", Migos" "Culture" and Rapsody's "Laila's Wisdom', and Tyler feels like it's "time" for him to win.

"There's a very, very big performance at the start of the show, so we thought, 'Well, we should try and as best we can bring little pockets of joy to the show".

The record was hailed the best of 1958 at the first annual Grammy awards Monday night. He won two Grammys in 2015, for Urban Contemporary Album and R&B performance. You can't deny her skill with the pen.
