Temperatures Will Get Warmer; Sleet and Freezing Rain Could Happen Sunday

Frigid temperatures in north Georgia aren't showing any signs of letting up as forecasters are predicting freezing rain in Dawson County beginning Sunday night into Monday.

Highs will top out around the 29-degree mark on Thursday in the Topeka area, according to the National Weather Service.

The wedge is formed when weather patterns from the west and northeast meet over north Georgia, often causing severe weather for the area. The low will be around freezing and the chance of precipitation is 90 percent.

Expect Saturday's highs to be in the mid 20's, he said.

Today will see partly sunny skies, with a high near 27, along with a light and variable wind becoming northeast around 6 miles per hour in the afternoon.

The lowest temperature recorded in MI on Thursday was minus-33 degrees in Amasa in the Upper Peninsula, said National Weather Service meteorologist Trent Frey. Calm wind becoming west around 5 miles per hour.

Sunday night: Partly cloudy with a low around 34.

SUNDAY: Cloudy, windy and mild with a 50% chance of showers or drizzle.

Derry said highs Monday through next Thursday should be in the 20s, with clouds on Monday and next Thursday and sun Tuesday and Wednesday. Wind chill values as low as -22. Overnight, the skies will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 17 and a south wind of 6-8 miles per hour.

Today: Sunny, with a high near 82.

Friday night: Showers, mainly before 4 a.m.

Tuesday, it will be mostly sunny with a high near 47, the weather service said. In the evening, expect partly cloudy skies, with a low around 27.

Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 46.

Tomorrow: Scattered showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 76.
