"Bose is excited to add a remarkable new Alexa experience for our customers", Bose product management director Brian Maguire said in a statement.

Executives from Amazon's Alexa and Google's Assistant will be seeking new partners and other big technology companies, including Apple and Facebook Inc.'s Oculus division, will be at the show behind the scenes as they ramp up their virtual-reality and augmented-reality products.

Instead of adding a bulk of code to enable Alexa integration, Amazon claims that the Alexa Mobile Accessory Kit enables OEMs to connect their Bluetooth audio-capable devices directly to the Alexa Voice Service (AVS) via the Amazon Alexa app on end users' mobile devices. That honor will go to a company called Vuzix. We've built a way to answer those questions: The GearBrain - a compatibility checker designed for Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, displaying every smart device that works with either of the leading smart speaker assistants. They could just wear the glasses to work, to events, or even while sipping coffee at a Café. However, Vuzix has emerged as the first smartglass maker to showcase the development in real. Vuzix CEO Paul Travers says that the price will be reduced to $500 by 2019.

Travers said his company hopes to ship the AR glasses sometime during the second quarter of 2018 for around $1,000. Of course, this would entail booming sales, among other factors, but Travers maintains optimism when asked about the future of the smart glasses with Alexa integration.

The launch of the Alexa-enabled AR glasses would surely be a game changer in the industry. However, the Cupertino giant is not expected to release its high-tech spectacles until 2020. But with Siri's HomePod debut delayed, Alexa seems to be stepping into the augmented reality market. We don't know if Amazon will ever launch its own pair of Alexa-enabled smart glasses, but this is a good start anyway. However, Google Glass failed due to its expensive price and very complicated distribution structure.
