Apple TV App Enables News Section as Promised

Apple TV App Enables News Section as Promised

"However, it does feel more app-like with the new version and less like the old version ported from the more restricted client made for older Apple TVs".

As reported by 9to5Mac, the new app will allow users to quickly access live news content from a number of different networks - CBS, CNN, Fox, Cheddar, CNBC and Bloomberg, specifically.

It's important to note that Apple's TV app is aggregating this content from the agencies' own apps, though, so you'll need to have those installed in order to access their news content within Apple's own entertainment app.

And if you don't have the app yet, your device is going to ask you if you want to download the app from the App Store. Apple is also linking to live streams and replays in the NBC Sports app. Clips will be viewable directly in Apple News.

Apple originally demoed this feature back in September when it unveiled the Apple TV 4K. In the United States, the additions provide easy access to both text and video news, though only a handful of partners are now featured. It appears to be live for users running the latest iOS 11.2.5 and tvOS 11.2.5 releases.

"Developers have been able to make custom apps for Apple TV since the introduction of tvOS a few years ago, but Google did not initially take advantage of this until now".
