Asus ZenFone 5 Series smartphones might launch at MWC 2018

Back in September 2017, Asus revealed plans to launch their Zenfone 5 series in Q1 2018, and now we have an official announcement date.

While there are no concrete rumors regarding the actual specifications as Asus managed to keep those under tight wraps, some earlier leaks suggested that the company will launch three smartphones, Zenfone 5 Lite, Zenfone 5 Max and the standard Zenfone 5. The company scheduled an event on February 27 at MWC 2018 in Barcelona. The event is slated for February 27 and it will kick off at 7:30 PM CET (12 AM IST). Nearly all the smartphones under the Zenfone 4 series came with dual cameras, and the company might continue the same with the upcoming Zenfone 5 smartphones.

Given that Qualcomm's logo is present in the invite, we're pretty confident that most (if not all) Zenfone 5 series smartphones will use Snapdragon mobile platforms. It will be live-streamed on the company's official site.

It was just yesterday when the Asus ZenFone 5 Max carrying the model number ASUS_X00QD received Wi-Fi certification from the Wi-Fi Alliance (WFA). The handset runs Android 8.0 Oreo and comes with a dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi support, as per the certification.

Asus is also in rumours for developing the ZenFone 5 Lite that recently received a certification in Russian Federation. As usual, Asus will launch a plethora of new devices under the Zenfone 5 lineup. You can expect at least one of them to come with an 18:9 display.
