― Reuters picLOS ANGELES, Feb 11 ― A California state police officer escorting a motorcade carrying Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of Canada was injured when his motorcycle collided with a passenger vehicle, USA news media reported.

Standing at the Griffith Observatory in the Los Angeles hills - a site made famous as a setting in multiple movies - Trudeau said his pitch to save the North American Free Trade Agreement from falling apart was well received.

Trudeau was not injured, a Canadian government source said.

The accident happened near East Easy Street and Madera Road in Simi Valley as the motorcade was leaving the Ronald Reagan Library Friday evening.

The officer and a person aboard the vehicle were taken to the hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening. Trudeau called for improved sharing of wealth and help for people "whose livelihoods have been disrupted by global economic shifts" - adding he and US President Donald Trump agree "too many people have been left behind".

He visited Chicago and San Francisco this week before traveling to California on Friday. The prime minister had a speaking engagement at the library.

The leaders also talked about immigration, universal healthcare and climate change, according to Newsom.
