Kendrick Lamar Reveals Tracklist for

Kendrick Lamar joins The Weeknd on stage during the "Legends of The Fall Tour" in 2017.

Over the cinematic production, courtesy of Matt Schaeffer, Cardo, Cubeatz, and Sounwave, The Weeknd takes the lead.

The track, "Pray for Me", opens with The Weeknd's floating vocal asking who is "gonna save me" before slipping into the hook where he wonders "who gonna pray for me".

"Pray For Me" is the latest track to make it to the soundtrack for the upcoming Black Panther movie. Save my soul for me?

Marvel's Black Panther is one of the most anticipated films of 2018, the film is directed by Ryan Coogler with a star studded cast full of black excellence. The Weeknd is even less convincing in his conflicted leading-man turn: "Tell me who's gon' save me from myself/When this life is all I know/Tell me who's gon' save me from this hell", he sings joylessly. We've already heard "King's Dead" with Jay Rock and Future, and "All the Stars" with SZA. The middle-of-the-road results will likely prove inconsequential for a projected box office behemoth like Black Panther, but for listeners, it's a game of diminishing returns.

Top Dawg Entertainment's Kendrick Lamar and The Weeknd are raising the stakes for February 9 to arrive.

The Ryan Coogler-directed film, which stars Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, and Lupita Nyong'o, hits theaters February 16.
